Message from Jesus, in the Gospel of God’s Love, page 40.

“I desire to write on: How the soul of a mortal receives the Divine Love and what its effect is even though, subsequently, their mind may indulge in those beliefs that might tend to prevent the growth of the soul. The inflowing of this Love is caused by being conveyed by the Holy Spirit, in response to prayerful longings for that Love.

“The prayers of mortals for those things that may tend to make them successful and happy in their natural love are also answered, if it be best that they should be. But these are not the prayers that bring the Divine Love, or cause the Holy Spirit to work with mortals.

“As sincere and earnest prayers ascend to the Father, that soul opens up to the inflowing of this Love, the soul perceptions enlarge and come more into rapport with the conditions that always accompany the presence of this Love. Then, consequently, its entrance into the soul becomes easier, and its reception more perceptible to the soul sense. The more earnest the prayer, and sincere the longings, the sooner faith comes, and with this faith, the realization that the Divine Love is permeating the soul.

“When once the Divine Love finds lodgment in the soul, it starts  changing into the substance, partaking of the essence of the Love. And as water may become colored by an ingredient foreign to itself, which changes not only its appearance but also its qualities, so this Divine Love changes both the appearance and qualities of the soul – and this change continues ever thereafter. The natural qualities of the soul and the essence of the Love become one and united, and the soul is made altogether different in its constinuency from what it was before the inflowing of the Love. As this Love increases in quantity, the change and transformation becomes correspondingly greater, until at last the transformation will become so great that the whole soul becomes a thing of this Divine Essence, and partakes of its very nature and substance – a being of Divinity.

When once this Love enters and truly possesses the soul, it never leaves or changes the soul back to natural love. It’s just as impossible for this Essence and sin and error to occupy the same soul, as it is for two material objects to occupy the same space at the same time.” Amen

Messages from the angels are sometimes lengthy, and difficult to grasp; but it’s helpful to understand that in order for human beings to learn spiritual Truths they must strive to receive God’s Grace into their souls. Jesus taught that Divine Love brings salvation to God’s children, and promises peace, fulfillment, happiness, and wisdom.  When we undersstand that the reasoning mind cannot grasp spiritual truths until the soul is developed in God’s Love, then we must strive to receive this wondrous Gift from God through prayer and faith.    

Messge from John: “Jesus was the mediator, not only in declaring the rebestowal of the great gift of Divine Love and immortality, but also in showing the way by which humans could and must seek for the Gift in order to rceive it. The great Gift of God to man was not Jesus, but the potentiality of obtaining the Divine Love and thus becoming fitted to reside in the mansions of the Kingdom of Heaven. And by himself receiving the Gift, Jesus became “the ressurection and the life and brought immortality to light.”

“How much greater a savior Jesus was in this way rather than by paying a supposed debt by his death and blood. No, he was the savior by his living and by his teachings, for he was the first to receive the Divine Love and to become divine himself and so was the first fruits of the resurrection.

“In closing, I wish to declare with all the emphasis I possess, arising from knowledge based upon the teachings of the Master, and from my personal experience as a possessor of this Divine Love and a partaker of the Father’s Divine Nature, that no vicarious atonement of Jesus nor shedding of blood saves anyone from sin, or makes them a redeemed child of the Father, or fits them for a home in the mansions of the celestial spheres.

With a love that can only come from a redeemed and divine nature, I love all humankind, and am working to help them find their way to life and immortality, and happiness beyond the conception of mortals or spirits who have not received this new birth of soul, into the divine nature of the Heavenly Father.

I have written enough for tonight, and you are tired. So my dear brother, with all my love and blessings of a heart filled with the love of the Father, I am Your brother in Christ, John”

Found in “The Gospel of God’s Love,” page 337, Through James Padgett. The angel spirit who channeled her thoughts was Helen, Padgett’s devoted and loving wife in her earth life.

“While, in many instances, evil spirits influence mortals in their thoughts and actions, yet not in every case. Mortals are not mere pliant tools or subjects of the evil spirits, but are persons with free wills, controlled by their own appetites. For people to believe that all their evil thoughts and acts are the result of low spirit influence would place them in a very subservient and deplorable condition, and would retard the development of their own thoughts and actions.

“Evil spirits are always working evil because they have not developed their souls’ love nature. But not all the evil thoughts and desires that mortals have are the result of spirit influence. A human being needs to relaize that in himself is the cause of his own thoughts and deeds. One must master these negative intentions, so they can be driven out of his thinking or desires and replace them with thoughts of a higher nature.

“It will not do for people to think they are wicked only because of the influence of evil spirits, for this would retard their progress and take from them a realization of their own responsibility. On the other hand, the source of good thoughts is also within each person. Whatever evil is displayed, giving evidence of a soul possessed by evil spirits, yet within the person himself is the power to overcome and cause its eradication. Humans must make the effort and realize that they are masters of good and evil. We celestial’s can help you, if you will let us, but it depends upon you, and no other can take the praise or blame for the results of your thoughts or actions.

“You must also realize this: that when the evil spirits form a rapport with you, and in a way obsess you, it will become more difficult for you to exercise your own will. In these cases, one should pray to be given help from the Higher Source, to overcome the influence of these evil ones. The character of your company will determine to a considerable extent the kind of thoughts you may have and the deeds you may do. But good or bad be your associates, you alone will be responsible for the results of your thoughts and acts.” Amen

Part of a message received from Jesus, in The Gospel of God’s Love, The Padgett Messages, page 333..

“The book you’ve been reading is altogether misleading, for there are no angels who have become devils. Never was there a “Lucifer” or “Satan” and no angel was ever thrown from heaven into hell. The only spirits in the spirit world are those who at one time were mortals on earth. Wherever angels are mentioned in the Bible, the word always refers to those who had passed the line between life and death, as commonly understood.

“There are spirits of all kinds, however, just as there are mortals of all kinds, having all the traits and characteristics of mortals; and some of these spirits may be justly called wicked or evil spirits. Evil spirits are attracted to evil humans and enjoy influencing them to carry out their evil intentions. Because of the great number of years these beliefs have existed, and the fact that many churches still teach that such devils do exist, it will be difficult to convince humans that there are no such things as devils – but it is the truth. I know that the majority of humankind believes that there are devils and are independent creations of God…” 

Editors note: This message was received almost a century ago, and it seems to me that humans may have made some advancements in spiritual awareness over that period of time. So perhaps it is no longer “the majority” of humans who believe that there is a devil. Considering that the potential to receive God’s Gift of Grace, was rebestowed only 20 centuries ago, it’s no wonder that humankind is still under the influence of barbaric behavior.

Another reason I have faith in the power of God’s Love to help human beings change their negative condition, is that when people reach out to the Over-Soul asking for guidance and wanting to make a connection with that Beneficient Power, God knows what’s in their heart and responds accordingly.

Even though you might have a different name, or heartfelt connection to the Creator Soul, when you desire protection, comfort and Love from the Higher Power, God will hear your prayer, and you will receive a response from the one and only Loving Creator. 

I pray that anyone who reads this message will understand that when people pray, from their heart and soul, for God’s help and Love, our Loving Creator will respond accordingly to all their sincere and heartfelt prayers. Amen

I wrote, About a Variety of Religions, in a Blog I posted in December 2009. Recently I was conversing with a friend, and something about a particular religion was mentioned, and the thought came to us that, “It doesn’t matter what religion one follows, we all pray to the same God.” So the dear soul who believes that their “God” is greater than another person’s God, is in error because they are one, and the same, awesome Creator.

I am not highly educated, and I make many mistakes, but I try to do my best to be kind and helpful. We create our own destiny by the thoughts we hold and the choices we make from day to day. I understand that humankind has inherited conditions, from many generations of warring nations, so extra effort needs to be made to overcome these conditions. Too many people believe they don’t have the power to change their thinking or their station in life. Thoughts are things which have the power to lead us in new and better directions when our intentions are to develop our highest spiritual potential.

Here comes the sticky part because I know that many people do not believe there is a Higher Power; I have learned that we, human beings, are not just bodies with minds, but we mainly are ‘souls’ which have the potential to become divine angels. The mind’s reasoning powers are quite good, but they are not infallible. If, or when, a person makes the effort to reach out to the awesome Creator, and asks for help, guidance and Love, and especially Divine Love, they will soon discover that events in their life begin to unfold in greater harmony, with less trouble and confusion.

The best suggestion I can share with seekers, who want to improve their life, is that they desire to know the truth about their spiritual potential. First, accept that you are a soul, in a flesh body, which has a reasoning mind. The material mind is energies of the soul. Spiritual Truths cannot be understood with the human mind unless the soul has been developped in the Grace of God’s Divine Love. If you want to open your opportunities to a spiritually oriented life, you need to pray often and develop your faith in the possibility of becoming at-One with God in Love. The soul is repersented by the heart, so pray from your heart and develop your soul with Love. Amen

In a message from Peter about some false teachings which abound in the world. Found in, The Gospel of God’s Love, The Padgett Messages, on page 264.

I write to corroborate what Paul said, both to the errors in the book you’ve been reading and of the Bible upon which the author based his conclusions. There are some epistles in the Bible attributed to me (Peter), which I did write to members of the church over which I had supervision; but these epistles as contained in the Bible are in many particulars untrue, and conflicting with my beliefs, then and now, and I never wrote such conflicting statements.

“I never wrote that Jesus paid a ransom for humankind, or that his death on the cross saved humans from the death which they inherited from the first parents, or anything of the kind that insinuated that God’s children were saved by any act of Jesus which “satisfied the wrath of God” (God has no wrath), or as the author wrote, satisfied “divine Justice.”

“Justice was not an element in the plan of mankind’s salvation, only Love and Mercy, and the desire of the Father that humans become reconciled to him, that his beloved children come to him and receive the great gift of Divine Love. No shedding of blood, or death of Jesus, or vicarious atonement could have accomplished this, for none of these things would affect the soul development of a human being. The matter of soul development is an individual matter, and can only be accomplished by a person who seeks for God’s great Gift of Love, then receives and develops It. They then become partakers of the Divine Nature and at-One with the Father.

“How deplorable it is that human beings teach this erroneous doctrine of the blood atonement. How very much harm it is doing to humankind, and to spirits as well; for many spirits come into the spirit world with their belief so firmly established in this doctrine that they remain for years in that condition of belief, with a consequent stagnation of their soul’s progress, and of their obtaining knowledge of Truth.

“The author will undoubtedly have to pay the penalty for his erroneous teachings, and may need to “unteach” the spirits who, when on earth, believed his false teachings. Someday human beings on earth will know the higher spiritual truths, and the Truths shall make them free.

“I am your brother in the Christ Spirit, Peter”

Henry Ward Beecher learned the Truths about Jesus’ teachings, around some 1900 years after they had been ministered to people, on earth, about their relationship to our Creator.

Continued from previous Blog: “No spirit has this Immortality just because it is continuing to live in the spirit world and cannot imagine that by any possibility that continuation of life can ever be arrested or ended. No such spirit knows that to be true because it has never been demonstrated as a fact – and it cannot be, until eternity comes to an “end.” Such spirit is no different, in its essemce and potentialities, from what it was when enfolded in the flesh, and has no greater reason for believing that it is immortal than it had when on earth. As Change is the Law Eternal in the spirit world, as well as on earth, they could not, with any certainty of knowledge say, there might not be some change in the spirit world that would break or set aside this continuity of existence.

“Take the young child, when the intellect has not been sufficiently developed to understand that there is such a thing as death of the physical body, and she believes that she will continue to live forever on earth. And so with these philosophers who had the hope of a future continuation of life, and with the spirits who know that there is a continuous life – they think that life must be a fixed state, and must of necessity continue forever.

“No spirit can say that it is immortal unless it partakes of God’s Divine Essence, and no wise philosopher, or religious teacher, prior to the coming of Jesus, could be said to have “brought immortality to light.” While hope and speculation exist as children of desire, yet knowledge is wanting and certainty is absent. The immortality, then, that humans believe in, and comfort themselves with believing, is the immortality that hope created and speculation proved. And the experience of them in communicating with spirits showed that death had not annihilated the individual – but hope and speculation and experience did not create knowledge.

“When Jesus came as the Messiah, he brought with him not only hope, but knowledge of Immortality. Not many humans have comprehended it, nor understood the reason for such knowledge. The teachers of the Bible never disclosed the true foundation upon which this knowledge exists.”

Message received in 1915, found in The Gospel of God’s Love, The Padgett Messages, pages 161 – 165.

“I am your friend and brother in Love, Henry Ward Beecher. I live in the 7th sphere, where your father now is, and because of having met him there, I come to you tonight to write for a short time. He has told me of you, and how easily you receive the communications of spirits. I want to let you know that, even though I am no longer the same as when on earth, I still have the desire to make known to humankind the thoughts that arise in me concerning God and the relation of humans to Him and the Kingdom of Love.

“I now understand what Jesus was trying to convey in his Mission on Earth. It may surprise you to know that when on earth, no matter what I may have preached to my people, yet in my heart I looked upon Jesus as a mere man of the Jews, and not very different from other great reformers who taught the moral truths which tended to make humans better and caused them to live more righteous lives.

“But since being in the spirit world and having had the experiences which my life has given me, I have found the way to God’s divine love and to the Kingdom. I now know that Jesus was more than just a reformer. He was not only a good and just teacher, but the true ‘Son of God’ and the Messenger in bringing to the world the truths of Immortality, and knowledge of the Divine Love of the Father and the way to obtain it. He was truly the Way, the Truth and the Life, as no other teacher ever was.

“I know that many religious and secular teachers have asserted and tried to teach humankind about immortality of the soul; and as humans understood the meaning of the word ‘immortality’ these teachings were more or less satisfactory. But I now see that their conception of the word meant only the continuation of life after what is called death. How different the meaning as thus taught and the true meaning of the word. It means not only continuation of life, but a life that has in it the Divine Love or Essence of the Father, which makes the spirit part of Divinity Itself, and not subject to death of any kind.” To be continued…

“Now that you realize that the low spirits cannot see us and, therefore, we are not able to influence them, or help them learn how to progress from their dark and unhappy condition, you can understand the importance of the work you are doing. Before we can tell them about how to elevate their soul condition, first we must attract their attention, and to some extent, their confidence.

“Being in a condition of darkness and want of soul development, they cannot see any such development you may have. To them you are merely a mortal, as they, themselves, were a short time ago, in many cases. Finding that they can communicate with you, they come to you just as one person would come to another for the purpose of conversation, and outside the phenomenon of spirit and mortal conversation. You do not seem any different from what humans seemed to them when they were on earth. They are all very human and to them your conversation is very natural. They listen to you with the same feelings of confidence, or rather, not of distrust, that they would another spirit like themselves. You are all humans together, and your ideas, to them, are just the same as they might expect if they were in the flesh, or if your were a spirit like themselves.

“While these dark spirits may, under certain circumstances, see the bright and beautiful spirits (as they sometimes tell you they do) yet they see only the appearance of the spirit body – they cannot see the condition of the spiritual development in these bright spirits. For it is a law that the spirit perceptions cannot envision conditions of the souls of others to a higher degree than they themselves have. This applies to all spirits no matter what sphere they may occupy. And hence you will understand that as we progress in our soul spheres, the higher we ascend, the more clear and comprehensible becomes our soul perceptions of the Father and his Soul qualities.”

As one prays for the Grace of God’s transforming Love, they receive the highest help available to elevate their soul’s condition, which then enables them to grasp higher spiritual truths. Published in The Gospel of God’s Love, page 340, Jesus, tells James Padgett that he, James, is in better condition to help the low spirits than are the Celestial Spirits; “We try to make a rapport with them, but their souls do not respond. It is only after you have talked to them and directed their attention to us (which helps open their souls perceptions to some degree) that we can come into that rapport with them that enables us to gain their attention and creates in them an interest in what we may have to say.

“This may seem surprising to you, as you believe we who are more elevated must have great power with and over these dark spirits. And this is so for certain purposes, and we do often restrain them from doing things they should not do. But this, you must understand, only means that we by our powers, arbitrarily force them to do or not do certain things, just as you on earth, in the enforcement of your laws, restrain those who desire to violate the law.

“But when we come to the task of attempting to turn their thoughts to those things that effect their soul condition, this use of constraint or force will not work. Then we must deal with the exercise of their free will, and in such cases only persuasion or loving influence can be effective in helping them out of their dark and tainted condition. We must invite and persuade the soul to awaken – we cannot force it – and to do so we must form that relationship with these dark spirits that will cause them to voluntarily open up their souls to our influence.

“The great obstacle to our work among spirits of this kind is that they will not listen to us or come into conversation with us, and we cannot compell them and accomplish our purposes. No human or spirit can ever, by force, be made to open up their soul to the higher thoughts of the soul’s progress. But, when we are able to come into rapport with them, then we can enlist their attention and inform them of the suffering and unhappiness that will be theirs if they continue in their same condition. And by this realization, they have an awakening and it causes them to think of these things that are holding them in their condition of darkness.”
