Message from Saul, published in The Gospel of God’s Love, on page 211.

“I know that I am looked upon, by many, as a sinner and violator of God’s laws. I did not strive to follow God’s laws, as I should have, and did many things contrary to his laws and consequently, I became in discord with God’s will. My knowledge of these laws was limited to the teachings of Moses and the prophets, as they were given to me by tradition and word of mouth. The books which are part of the Old Testament were not written in my time.

“The Old Testament contains many sayings which were written long after the times they purport to have occurred, and many things therein declared never had any existence except in the minds of men who, at much later periods, conceived that it might be wise to write these things. Many alleged incidents connected with my life never happened, they were merely fictions written by subsequent writers. We had very few writings in the form of manuscripts, we depended upon tradition and memory.

“The history of my life and doings was not written at the time it puports to have been written. I was a real person and a king, and some records of me and my people were actually written, but they were very few. As time went by, imagination and ingenuity added to them, in the way of tradition, and then finally those books as now contained in the Bible were compiled from these writings and traditions.

“The story of my experience with the so-called “Witch of Endor,” was not written at the time, but it’s a fact that I had visited her and had an experience somewhat similar to that related in the Bible. With me at the time of my visit were some of my followers; they saw and heard what took place and after my death they described the event to my countrymen. But there was no accurate history kept of the scene. People of those days had retentive memories, and for long years afterwards this incident of my life was handed down from generation to generation; some parts were written by certain scribes and other parts by other scribes.

“I merely write this to show you that you need not give credence to the supposed truth of many sayings of the Old Testament, for many of these accounts have no basis in fact.” Amen

From, The Gospel of God’s Love; The sins of the parents, page 107.

“God never changes. His laws never change. Only humans have changed from the perfection of their creation; and humans must change again before that perfection can again be theirs.

“From all this, it must not be infered that humans are left to their own efforts to bring about their own restoration. God’s instrumentalities are at work continuously, influencing them to return to their first estate and become again perfect (as they will ultimately become). I am not refering here to the workings of the Divine Love, which, when possessed in sufficient degree, will make a person greater than the perfect human being.

“So, the sins of the parents being visited upon the children to the third and fourth generations, means the tendencies and inclinations toward that which is evil-and visited, not by God, but by humans themselves, soley and exclusively.

“Oh mortals, could you see the results of these sins upon the natures of your children, as you may often see them upon their material bodies, you would hesitate in your sinning and think, and in thinking, would see the way by which the great blot upon the happiness and salvation of humanity could be removed, and its progress to the perfect humans be hastened and assured.”

There is a way human beings can gain strength to overcome limitations of the flesh, or their desires to indulge in activiites which they interpret as “fun,” but which accumulate encrustments upon their souls. And that Way is to pray for higher help. Pray to become receptive to your guardian angels’ influences. Desire to develop the Love nature of your soul. The angels tell us that our natural love does not have the power to enable us to overcome our desires to act out of harmony with love. But everything “done in love” is in harmony with God’s will.

Our wills can be strengthened by receiving God’s Gift of Love. As we continue our sincere prayers to come into alignment with God’s will, and to receive more of God’s Grace into our souls, we will have the power and awareness to make loving choices.

You have the free will to decide how to respond in every situation. Pray to be protected from situations which interfere with your free will choices. Try to always put your love into everything you do, and you will be blessed. Amen

From Luke in, The Gospel of God’s Love, “The Sins of the Parents” page 106.

“A parent is not only the parent of a child’s material body, but is also the parent of its spiritual nature. The condition of the parent’s spiritual nature influences and determins to a large extent the qualities and tendencies of the child’s nature, and frequently after it has ceased to inhabit the veil of flesh.

“It is often said that it is unjust, and not in accordance with the concept of an impartial God, that the sins and penalties arising from the disobedience of our first parents should be visited upon humans who were their progeny, as such humankind had no part in that disobedience. But when it is realized that God did not create sin or evil, or “impose” such upon the first parents for their disobedience, but they, themselves, created evil and sin, it will be seen that an impartial God is not responsible for either sin or evil, or for the consequent penalties imposed. The abloishing of sin and evil and their penalties is within the power of humans and their will.

“As these first parents created these evils, their sins, by the influence which they had upon the spiritual nature of the child at the time of conception and gestation, became, as it were, a “visitation:” and this influence continued with the child for years after its birth, according as the child and parents were closely associated together in their earth lives. As each successive generation caused the visitation of its sinful influence and tendencies upon succeeding generations, you can see how all humankind became subject to inclinations toward sins and evils and their penalties, which were brought to the world by the first parents.

Instead of God being the creator of these things, or visiting them upon the children of humans, He declares that their existence is contrary to the harmony of His creation, and must be eradicated in order for humans to come into harmony and at-Onement with Him. God gave to humans the great power of free will, without any restrictions upon its exercise, as they, in the wrongful exercise of that power, brought into existence these things of evil and sin, so it must be up to humans to exercise their wills in such a way as to free themsleves from those things which are not part of God’s creation.” Amen

Message from Luke, found in The Gospel of God’s Love, page 104.

“It may be asked: In what way can the effect of sin upon a person have any injurious effect upon the spirit and soul of their child, that would cause that child to suffer from the sins of its parents? Well, when a child is conceived, gestates and is born, it not only partakes of the physical nature of its parents, but also the qualities and condition of the spirit and soul of the parents.

(When a soul enters an embryo, it attracts a spirit body at that time, and becomes the early stages of a child.*) “The soul  comes from the great universe of unincarnated souls, wholly independent of the parents, and is not yet part of the parents condition, as is the physical part of that child. But it is true that the soul is susceptible to and “absorbs” the influence of the spirit and soul of its parents. This influence continues after birth and even unto the third and fourth generations.

“The spirit part of a child is more suseptible to the influence and evil effects of these sins than is its physical body, for the spirit part is the “breeder” of sins, while the body is merely the recipient of the exercise of the sin, and the object of their manifestation. The influence of spirit upon spirit is more extensive and certain than mortals can realize. The results of that influence are not as apparent or known to the consciousness of the succeeding children, or to the respective parents, as people suppose, so they do not become conscious of the fact that such influence is operating upon the spiritual parts of their children.

I must tell everyone who wants to know the truth, that while great and deplorable injury is inflicted upon the bodies, yet greater, more lasting and more grievous injury is inflicted upon the spiritual nature of the children – not only because this nature continues beyond the eatth life, but because humans, not realizing that this nature has been injured, make no attempt to find and apply a remedy.”

*After a soul enters an embryo and becomes the early stages of a person, this soul has fulfilled the purpose for its incarnation – the individualization of its    personality. If by accident or design, this fetus becomes aborted, it continues to live in the spirit world and is cared for by loving spirits.” Amen

“I am the martyr, and come to tell you to believe that we are spirits, who once lived and taught the truths of Jesus to mortals, and who were followers of him and lovers of the Father, and we are now inhabitants of His Kingdom.

“I died the death portrayed in the Bible and Saul, who was my most pernicious persecuter, is the same person who afterwards became Paul the Christian. I merely state this fact to identify myself to you, and to show you that I am the same spirit who once died for the faith.

“So now while I am a happy spirit and an inhabitant of the Heavenly Kingdom, yet once I was a mortal engaged in teaching the truths of the Master, and suffered the pains and torments which the teachings and faith brought to many of Jesus’ disciples.

“But those times are past, and now these truths may be preached and there is none to fear; yet opposition will come from the churches and the ecclesiastical brethren who are bound by their beliefs in the creeds. But, nevertheless, the truths must be taught, and the Master has chosen you to receive them, so that they will be given to the world. And while your task is a glorious one, yet you will find much responsibility and maybe antagonism in your private life, because of such teachings. But be firm and stick to these truths, and in the end they will prevail, and humankind will be benefitted and will turn to the Love of the Father and pursue the way that the Master will show.

“So let not your courage falter or your efforts cease, and you will find a recompense not only in the spirit world, but in the world of mortals as well. I will be one of your band that Peter spoke of, and you will find that your power for good will develop wonderfully and in a way that will make the world take heed to the truths that you shall transmit.

“You are the chosen one and have with you the powers of the Celestial Kingdom. Put your trust in the Master and in the Father’s Love and you will not be forsaken. I am your brother and friend, St Stephen.”

Message continued, from Luke, in The gospel of God’s Love, page 207.

“It is known that the early Christian fathers had bitter disputes as to what was the “word of God” and what should be accepted or rejected among the writings antedating the manuscripts of the Bible. Many manuscripts purporting to be the “word of God” were rejected as such, because they could not have been God’s Word since they did not agree with what some bishops of the church “thought God’s Word should be.”

“During the period between the earliest writings of the church fathers and the time of the actual occurence of the things which these writings are supposed to correctly describe, there were many changes made in the writings that I left, as well as in those left by other original writers.

“Even the epistles of Paul, which the thelogians and Bible students claim have more authenticity and greater certainty than the Gospels or other epistles of the Bible, many changes were made between the time of their writing and the time of the execution of the manuscripts of the fathers of the early church.

“Within that one hundred and fifty years, the truths of the spiritual teachings of the Master had become more or less lost to the consciousness and knowledge of those who attempted to reproduce the original writings, because these men had become less spiritual, and their thoughts and efforts had become more centered on building up the church, than on attempting to apply, teach and preserve these great spiritual truths. The moral precepts then became the dominating objects of their writings and teachings, as these were more easily comprehended by them, than were the precepts that taught the way to the new birth of soul through the divine love.

“I declare with authority that the authenticity of the Bible as the “word of God,” cannot be established, for in very many particulars it is Not His word, but on the contrary, contains many assertions of truth that are diametrically opposed to His truths, and to Jesus’ teachings.”

The only way one can establish truth in their own heart and mind, is to pray, with sincere and heartfelt longings, to know the truth, to do God’s will, to be blessed by the Holy Spirit, and to receive an inflowing of God’s Divine Love. Our souls need to be prepared, and transformed by God’s Love, in order to understand spiritual truths. Amen

From The Gospel of God’s Love, page 206.

“Among the writings of the Bible there are many things declared to be truths that are contradictory and unexplainable, and which, if they were the “word of God” or even the teachings of Jesus, would contain no contradiciton or admit of any compilations that were not consistent, one with the other.

“The Bible has changed and perverted the whole plan of God for the salvation of mortals, and has substituted a “plan” that arose from the limited wisdom of mortals who believed that they had a knowledge of God and His designs, and who were largely influenced by the teachings of the Jewish scriptures. This fact was conspicuously shown by these writers’ substitution of Jesus, in their plan of salvation, in place of the animals of sacrifice in the Jewish plan of salvation. As the God of the Jews, in order to be appeased and satisfactorily worshipped, demanded blood, so the God of these Christians, in order to be appeased and satisfactorily worshipped, demanded blood – and that, the blood of His dearly beloved son.

“As these additions, emasculations, and interpretations of the original teachings of the Master continued, the increasing want of comprehension of spiritual things, and the growing “wisdom” of their own finite intellects caused these copyists to conceive this “plan” on the part of God for man’s salvation. As the copying continued, the thoughts of these copyists became more centered on this “plan,” and so these copies were gathered together and considered in an effort to have some agreement in the declaration of this “plan.” As the new copies were made, they were constructed with the view of showing forth this agreement.

 It must not be supposed that these early manuscripts, that were the basis of the Bible, were copied and preserved in a maner that caused them to be isolated one from the other, and that they were not all known to the persons involved in the copying. These, what may be called basic copies, were in circualtion at the time the Christian fathers wrote; they had access to them and quoted from them and helped to give them the interpretations that now prevail in the churches (along with additional interpretations since those days).

“Humans now know that among these Christian fathers were bitter disputes as to what was part of “the word” and what should be accepted or rejected.”

From John the apostle, found in, The Gospel of God’s Love, page 357.

“A medium can receive only such truths as their soul condition is susceptible to the forming of a rapport by the spirit. The possibility of rapport, and the kind thereof, lie at the foundation of mediumship, and determine and limit the power of the spirit to convey their thoughts, and the capacity of the medium to receive them. When the medium is in a certain condition of development, and as that condition harmonizes with the condition of the spirit, the spirit and medium can form a rapport. And it is impossible for the spirit to write those things which require a greater degree of development than the medium at the time possesses.

“This fact (and Law) also will explain why the same spirit may communicate through several mediums and yet the communications through one medium may contain a higher or lower character of truth than those transmitted through some other medium. This can result in those mortals who have heard or read these different writings, have been prone to believe that the same spirit was not making both communications. But this is not a just conclusion; for while the spirit was in the same contition, possessing the same knowledge, at the time of both writings, yet the mediums, because of their difference in development, were unable to receive the same character of message.

“You may search the whole history of spirit/mortal communication and of mediumship, and you will not find any messages of the character of those that have been transmitted through you, and for the reasons I have stated.

“Swedenborg was the last and nearer perfect instrument for receiving these higher truths; and yet, because of his want of soul development, and being bound, more or less, by his orthodox beliefs and his scientific knowledge, caused him to mix these truths with his ideas of “correspondence,” and similar conceptions, he could not be successfully used to transmit these truths which we have been communicating through you.

“From all this you will comprehend why so very few messages containing high spiritual truths come through mediums. The mediums are so developed that they can recieve only messages dealing with the material affairs of life – and which kind of messages, I can truthfully say, are those that are largely desired by mortals seeking information from the spirit world.” (For more, see The Gospel of God’s Love, The Padgett Messages.)

I found another message to share. It is very different from any of the others; it’s a message from the spirit of a young mother who died in childbirth;

“Come to the bridal chamber, death. Come to the young mother when she feels for the first time her new born’s breath. And so death came to me when I was but a young bride and lived in expectation of a new loving being that would be part of my flesh – and died when my baby came. As life came to it, death came to me, and we missed each other at the very moment that I heard its first cry.

“And when I came to life in the spirit world I was bitter and thought God to be so heartless and cruel to take me from my baby, and was so unhappy, that I wanted to die over again.

“I would like to tell you of my misery and gloom and hatred of my very God, whom I had believed in and thought that I loved, but I cannot now. But this I must say, that my unhappiness was for a short time only, for bright spirits came to me and comforted me. They assured me that I was not separated from my baby, but could go to my baby and watch over him and give him my mother’s love. And so I did, and am now doing, for my baby is now a man, and still I am with him. And I know that I have been a greter blessing to him as a spirit mother, than I would have been had I remained his mortal mother.

“I write this to comfort mothers who have to leave their babies as they come into earth life, and to asure them, that though they disappear from the vision of their loved ones, yet they can always be with them – close and in deep rapport and love with them.

“Death comes as an enemy, but when recognized, only a friend appears. Mothers, thank God for such death and the great consolation it brings to the departing and to those left behind. Goodbye.”

God is not only Good, but He’s Great! It seems to me that in order to experience the greatness of God, we need to strive to love ourselves and others. When we learn to love ourselves, we will be more receptive to God’s blessings. Amen

I came across this message from an old volume, Messages From Jesus and Celestials, and feel it might be of interest to readers.

“I am here, John the apostle, I come today because I see your condition and that you need encouragement. I am your special guardian and could not abstain from writing. Trust in the Father and in our help and you will not be disappointed.

While your material affairs are important, yet these spiritual truths are of more importance, not only to you, but to the world for whom they are primarily intended. The sooner we can complete our book of truths the better it will be for suffering humanity, many whose hearts are lacerated because of the great destruction of human life caused by the war (WWI).

I know that many believe that in some way God has an overpowering direction as regards the progress and outcome of war, and in a certain sense this is true, for He is always interested in and seeks to reach the souls and hearts of human beings; and, of course, desires that the suffering and devestation shall cease. But as the cause of all this was the evil desires and ambitions of mortals, God will let the mortals, themselves, control the conduct and outcome of the war.

God will not exercise arbitrary power to end war or determine which of the contending nations will be victorious, except in this: that through the instrumentality of His spirit will influence the minds and consciences of men in such a way that right and justice will prevail, and evil thoughts and deeds of mortals be stopped in their operations. His Spirits have been working to this end for a long time, and so have the evil spirits been working to bring discord and destruction upon humanity. The leaders of the nations have been, in large degree, obessed by these evil spirits, and have been influenced in many of their thoughts by these dark ones who delight in seeing humankind suffer, and evil assert itself.

The spirits of truth are exercising wonderful power over the hearts and souls of mortals, and one that will cause them to realize that evil must not be allowed to prevail, and that truth and right must assert themself, so that the war will cease and mortals come into unison with peace and justice. In this way God will answer prayer. Amen
