Human Soul – The Image of God

Fourth Blog from Jesus’ message titled, “The Likeness of God.” Published in The Gospel of God’s Love, on pages 64 through 70.

Recap: The soul of humans is the person – before, while in the mortal existence, and ever after in the spirit world.

“All other parts of God’s children, such as mind and body and spirit, are mere attributes which may be dissevered from them as the soul progresses toward its destiny of either the perfect human or the divine angel. In the latter progression, the mind as known to humans – becomes non-existent; and this mind (called the carnal or material mind) becomes replaced by the mind of the transformed soul, which is, in substance and quality, and to a degree, the mind of Diety itself.

“Many theologians and philosophers believe and teach that the soul, spirit and mind are substantially one and the same thing, and that any one of them may be said to be the person; and that in the spirit world, one or the other of these entities is that which persists, and determines, in its development or want of development, the condition of the person after death. But this conception of these parts is erroneous, for they each have a distinct and separate existence and function.

“The mind, in its qualities and operations, is well known to humans, and has been the subject of greater research and study than has the soul or the spirit. People have, during all the centuries, speculated upon the soul, yet to them it has been elusive, and impossible to comprehend by the intellect. To some of these researchers, when inspiration has shed light upon them, some glimpse of soul and its nature has come to them; yet to most who have sought to solve this mystery, the soul and spirit and mind are seen as substantially the same thing.

“But the soul, as concerning humans, is a thing of itself, alone: A substance real, though invisible to mortals; the discerner and portrayer of humans moral and spiritual condition; never dying, so far as known; and the real ego of humans. In the soul are centered the love principle, the affections, the appetites and passions, and the possibility of receiving and possessing those things that will either elevate humans to the state of the divine angel or the perfect human, or lower them to the condition that fits them for the hells of darkness and suffering.
