I want to clarify what the man said to you about my gospel, or rather, the gospel attributed to me. His reference to the opening words…”In the beginning was the word and the word was with God,” etc. is without any force to prove that Jesus was God, or one of the godhead, for it was never written by me, and does not state a truth. “The Word,” in the sense refered to in that gospel, can only mean God; for He and He alone was “in the beginnng,” and made everything that was made.<\/p>\n
Jesus was the son of a father and mother, and not “begotten” by the Holy Spirit in the sense ascribed to his birth account thereof. He was “born of the Holy Spirit” as his soul opened up to the inflowing of the Divine Love, and was the first of humankind to receive this Love and the Father’s essence of divinity. Hence he was the “first fruits” of the rebestowal of this Love, and as a consequence was the first fitted to declare the truths of the Father and to “show the Way.” As his soul became filled with this Love, he grew in wisdom and knowledge of the truths, it may be said that he was “sent” by the Father to declare these truths, and to explain the Way to the Celestial Heavens toward at-Onement with God.<\/p>\n
Jesus was selected to declare the truth of the rebestowal of the divine love, this Love commenced to flow into his soul from before his birth. (Jesus’ soul was constituted to long to be close to his loving Father, and received a small portion of the Love while in his mother’s womb, this enabled Jesus to be born free of sin.) As Jesus grew in love and wisdom, the knowledge of his mission came to him. He was “son of man” (Joseph and Mary}, and also “Son of God,” (as all human beings are).<\/p>\n
Jesus is not God, but is the most highly developed spirit in the Celestial Heavens and is nearer to God in Love and knowledge of truth. The “Word” is God, and Jesus is his son. You may become God’s child in the same sense; an heir to the Divine\u00a0Kingdom. All humans are children of God and have the potential to become divine beings.
